As part of our partnership with the Johan Cruyff Foundation, on the 22nd of January 2020, we launched the 6th Cruyff Court at Sekolah Kebangsaan Mentuan (SK Mentuan), Kota Bharu in Kelantan.
Located about 10km away from the city centre, Kampung Mentuan has a high-density community and no public space is available for children and youth to play. Within the 5km radius of SK Mentuan, there are 10 more schools within the vicinity.
With easy public access and identified as a flood-free area, the new Cruyff Court was built and launched in SK Mentuan’s compound to provide a safe public space for the children and youth to play.
The court is open for students and also public to organise sports activities to promote self-organisation and social cohesion.
We hope to launch more courts soon!
Cruyff Court is a safe place to get together and where children get to know the importance of togetherness, making friends, discovering your own talents, and winning and losing. These are valuable experiences that they carry with them as they develop physically and mentally, and as they move into society. More about Cruyff Court here.
